End of the road

As I end my blog posting for the semester I decided I'll write about what I thought about the game in general.

I left my comfort zone for this game. It isn't what I'm used to in video games. I'm usually playing shooting games so playing a first person rpg was kind of new. But to say the least, loved this game. It literally was the longest game I've ever played. I spent about 300 hours on it and I definitely didn't explore everything. I was still discovering new places even after I finished the story.

I never have been more impressed with a game just by looking up. Skyrim has some of the greatest visuals I've ever seen. Even looking up in a virtual space. The view of the stars can still render you breathless as well as the sunset.

Now the massiveness of this game does have its drawbacks. The glitches, if you let them, can drive you up the wall. There are some glitches that even hinder you from completing certain missions. Yet, the size of this game and the amount of missions you can do makes up for those missions.

I would definitely recommend skyrim to anyone that has played video games before. It's a great story and a great reality to experience, it's definitely worth a look.

Tips and tricks I've learned.

The one thing about skyrim is that there are a lot of glitches. From floating mammoths to walking through door. Most of them are annoying but I found one glitch that is rather helpful. If you ever need to raise your attack strength level this is the way.

To do this you need a horse and a weapon. What you do is you take your horse out, away from people. Mainly because you'll be attacking it and people will get mad. Make sure your difficulty settings is set to master. Once you're set just start whacking the crap out of it. Since your game is on master difficulty your horse won't die that easily. Once you get his health down, which is a while just wait a day. After you're done waiting your horses health is 100% and you an continue!

This is a great way to level up fast at the beginning if you want to get ahead.

Talking about stealth.

So I was thinking about what the best attribute is. Throughout the game I've used all of them but wanted talk about stealth. It's the one that helped me he most on all my missions. It was the key to me being successful in about 70% of them. Stealth is also good to not get caught when you get I to sticky situations, such as robbing a house or breaking out of jail. If you don't use it well you will be caught, killed and/or branded a thief.

If you're not sneaky, say you killed a guy and another guy notices. That guy is a witness and you have to kill him. If you don't report them they will eventually report you.

Stealth can also help you be more deadly, if no no one notices you can inflict twice as much damage than if you were noticed.

Skyrim - multiple followers.

So while playing Skyrim, while you're traveling around you will come across people who will offer their services, to accompany you. Sometimes it's for a small price, but they help up you out in tight situations killing people and monsters for you so they're very useful to have. But it's always a crap shoot with who you have follow you. Some are really bad and some die quicker than others so it takes time to find the right one.

Another bummer about this follower system is that the game says you can only have one follower at a time. It's easy to imagine what it would be like if you can have more than one follower, how much extraction you could cause. So I did some research and found out how to get mutliple ones.

One way to debunk this system is simple: there are quite a few missions you go on where some people will accompany you through it and stop following you at the end. Simply start he quest, have that person follow you and don't finish it. I did this and had about six followers and a dog at my side. Needless to say the game got a little easier.

Storyline completed

I finally finished the main storyline of this game and I have to say I almost had no idea what was going on. The thing about skyrim is that it's so big you can forget about other people and things you did. There's a main quest line in the story that is like the main story. I totally abandoned that since my first week from playing so I had no idea what was going on.

There were shouts I had to use, which took me a hole to figure out. I had no idea who the people were that were with me. There was one thing I expected was another stupid dragon.

So after dying six times I finally beat him and talk to this guy named tsun, he gave me a new shut and sent me out of the trippy, led zeppelin-like dream world I was in.

As I left the world I realize that there are a huge amount of dragons around me. There's like a hundred but they aren't attacking me. One of them talks to me and apparently makes me their leader.

Skyrim Easter eggs. - 300

I've found probably the coolest Easter egg, if you're a big movie or graphic novel fan. It's a reference to the scene in 300 when Leonidas leads that wolf through the mountain passage then says the mouth with his spear. I headed up the lover's stone mountain until I found a skeleton.
Looking past the corps you'll see a cat lodged between two rocks with a sword through his face.

I'm very proud of finding this one, it would have taken me forever if I tried, I was in the right place at the right time, I think.

Sawshank Redemption Easter egg - Skyrim.

Hi all, I have found another interesting easter egg in skyrim. You can find it at the college of winterhold when talking to a man named Enthir. Enthir does some missions with you when you're still trying to beat it but once thats over he will start selling items. they're not the best by any means but he sells stuff that is illegal in the college. Once you talk to him he will say "I understand you're a khajit who knows how to get things done" which is the line in the movie.

I've almost completed every quest line just maybe two more

Skyrim Easter eggs!

So I've finished the game. I'm a level 79 and my stats are almost completely maxed. So now since this game is so full of interesting Easter eggs I believe I'll do the remainder of my posts about them.

My first one I found was a Easter egg containing a Robert Frost reference. He is a very famous poet if you have never heard of him. I'm a big fan of his which is why it's my favorite Easter egg.
You go to riften and head in to the bee and the barb. Once you're there there'll be a guy there that wants a horse named "Frost" which starts the promises to keep quest, which is a line from the poem "stopping by the woods on a snowy evening". After that you go to the black briar house through a bit of woods which refers to the line "whose woods these are". More Easter eggs to come!

Giants killed: 8
Destruction:37
Lock picking: 25
Level 25

After a few weeks of messing around I decided I would keep the storyline going. The gist of it is that there are now murderous dragons everywhere, I would know because I've been walking minding my own business and whoosh one swoops down and kills me in a matter of minutes. I hope this game is more than just overpowered dragons. Eventually I found out I was a dragonborn which means you have the ability to speak like them.

I progressed by climbing this mountain to see these wizards and talk to them. I was told that they can help me out with the dragonborn thing so that's where I'm going. But what would a three mile high mountain be without trolls waiting to kill you in three swipes. De spite dying all the time this game is growing on me.

Giants killed: 5
Destruction:35
Lock picking: 50
Level 21

After I've gotten bored killing giants I decided to start building my house. It's a hard concept to get used to because you have to build everything from the door handle to the door but it was fun. I plan on getting a shot of my house in at some point.

I went through a revolution where I took skyrim for the storm cloaks. It was a fun part of the game, got some awesome armor too.

New Skyrim DLC!

A new downloadable content is coming out for skyrim this December. Here is the trailer on YouTube. I am pumped http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pFfNzMZm8zE

October 18th - One giant dead

Level 15
October 18th

So since I left off. I have be trying o kill a giant. It's been so tough I had to break a controller in the process but all is well, I finally did it! It took me about a half hour to kill a single one. If he hit me with his club once I would go flying and die, so I had to find a open area to run from it constantly while throwing spells it's way. If my distance was measured I would have travelled about five miles. Although it wasn't very productive of me to just go for an overpowered giant for a whole week I did get better stats wise from it. So not all was lost.

Giants killed: 1
Destruction:35
Lock picking: 37
Level 15

After killing that giant I decided t finish the companions quest. That means I had to become a where wolf.

It isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. What I thought was that you were always going to be a where wolf and never change back to your regular form but it's used like an ability I can activate at anytime I want. It's quite fun. Once I turn everyone in my vicinity tries their hardest to kill me. Rude.

October tenth

Level 12
October tenth

So since I left off. I died from a giant, just minding my own business and he straight up murders me. So my goal for the past few days has been to kill all the giants I see. They're not hard to find at all since they are about ten feet tall.

Giants killed: 0
Destruction:30
Lock picking: 31

The giant poaching hasn't been too successful. I've came up with a good way to last though and that is to not stop running. They're very slow and it helps to get away from their club-swinging range. The bad thing is once our stamina runs out you are sol.

I've started doing the vampire quests. I'm not sure if I wanna be a vampire or if I want to hunt them. I'll figure it out eventually. But now is the time to focus n those giants!

Late September - Skyrim adventures

Level ten
Early October post

So I'm done with the magic college. I became like the head guy there. That's kind of sad for a college when you just have to walk in. Do what people say for two hours then automatically get named the leader of it. All I'm going to do is steal from them. They made a bad choice but I digress.
My top three stats.

One handed 26
Destruction 29
Lock picking 31

I decided to blow that Popsicle stand and go south again. Went to a town called white run and decided to join the companions there. It's this cult type of group. They gave me armor so I'm cool with them. One complaint about them is they fight ALLLLL the time. It's ridiculous. And they won't die either.

After a few missions I found out that they're all where wolves... So I left that place because where wolves make me mad.

I left town and headed west. It wasn't long til I came to a camp site kind of place with mammoths. I was messing with the mammoths until a huge giant comes up out of no where and kills me with a swipe. I kinda likes game.

Level six
Late september post.

After a little bit of slow playing because of my hand I got a little farther. I have been working on these missions at the college of winter hold. It's very snowy here. It's too cold for polar bears apparently. I've tried to kill most of the people in the town here. They are all quite rude.

Destruction 21
Lock picking 23
Archery 19

These quests are pretty freaky. I have to get is cube that kills people. Kinda crazy.

One complaint about this game is that no one will DIE. It's very frustrating when you're trying to light up someone with a spell. They fall and then they just get back up. I didn't pay sixty dollars to let people live. Just saying.

Skyrim - 4

Level 3

It's around the middle of September. I finally know how to play. Each quest you go on shows up on your compass. I found out that each avatar you pick has a different ability. Since I have a khajit I can see in the dark with a push of a button.

Right now I'm level 3. Here's the stats I'm focussing on so far.
Lock picking 18
Destruction 19
Archery 17

I decided to go straight northeast. I found out that there's a college that you can learn better magic at. I love magic so I went.

I found a follower. He cost me 500 dollars. He's really good at magic, it's making me jealous. He kind of sucks at everything else.

There is new content I downloaded; dawnguard, which brings in a vampire side quest. I plan on song that sometime soon. Also another, heart fire. It makes its I can build a house.

Adventure 2 - Found a sword!

So I broke my thumb, which may hinder me from playing as much games as I want but won't complete stop me doing it.

I've gotten the hang of this game a little more. I've figured out how to attack; I can punch people now. I've only been arrested twice and probably beat about six people up. The level up system is cool, you get better at certain skills by using them more.

Being arrested isn't fun though because then you have to get out of jail is pretty difficult.

There's a lot of lock picking in this game, I was kind of surprised. Are they wanting us to be criminals? Im getting pretty good at it.

So to start; right after almost being killed twice. By the people and then a dragon, I begin to be able to walk around. As I walk from town to town I see that like everyone has a sword. I don't. I should probably get one at some point.

After reading a few forums I Iearned that you should just focus on a few skill traits so you can get the most put of your character. I decided this would be the best way to play. Since I have no idea what I'm doing.

My characters name is Prisoner who is a Khajit, a cat race that walks on their hind legs. i decided to make him focus on magic as his main focus and then lock picking and sword wielding(once I find one).

So for my next adventure I decided to go east and came up to this mzurlift mine.inside there were cogs and gears. It was scary.

After walking around n the mine for a while I came upon a dead body. It was a cat like me. Poor thing. Still clutching his sword. This dead body deserves to rest in piece.

So after looting his body I went forward. After picking a few locks I found what seems to be an unusual gem. After picking it up a new quest begins.

I'm definitely in a better place then last time since I have a quest and a sword to go with it.

Beginning/creating my character.

Hey everyone, time for another blog post. Before I start out I thought I'd go over a few things. I've never really played a game like this so I'll have to say it'll take me a while to figure it out. I didn't play too long on my first play through but it was an experience none the less.

In the near future I plan on getting the accessories to be able to record my gameplay. I feel that since I'm doing a video game themed blog I should at least have some game play.

I guess it's time to get started! I'm pumped.

I started the game and right off I dig the music. It's sort of like Viking music.

So, I started a new game and I immediately appear to be in a carriage with a bunch of other dudes. Apparently I'm in the woods. Yeah I'm positive I'm in the woods, there's bears like fifty feet away from me.

So, a few minutes later we stop and get out. It turns out I'm being executed... I must have killed somebody.

So, they ask me who I am, and it goes to a screen to where I create my character. I decided to go with the khajit race. They're cat-like human looking people. Code this race because I love cats and they can see in the dark. That sold me.

It's kind of redundant creating what I look like if I'm going to get my head cut off in a few minutes. Whatever, I'll bite.

So I finally move and walking toward this rock to be killed. What a great game this has been, a whole five minutes long.

As I'm about to be executed a huge roar emotes from beyond. It turns out to be a dragon. Holy cow. Everyone's running around screaming as the dragon swoops down, kills a dude and breathes fire on all of us.

I finally am able to control my character and I'm supposed to follow this armored clad dude. "follow me, we're going to kill this thing". Uhh, that's great man, only problem is I'm tied up and I don't have a sword.

Introduction - Starting out

Hi everyone. I apologize for the lateness of my first post. I am new to blogging and I look forward to this new experience.

I was going to do this blog about music because that is, in fact the one thing I am passionate about the most. I love playing my trumpet and singing. I decided against doing music only because it is in my life so much, it seemed rather tedious of me to write about it as well. Repetition is boring.

So I decided to do video games! My first choice were video game reviews but looking ahead I would have to have played twenty video games. I don't have the time for that. So I narrowed it down to just game and that one is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

I had a rather biased view of this game before I bought it. I thought it was just like the Dungeons and Dragons games those people played. Kind of silly if you ask me. Well after I found out you get to kill thirty foot dragons I thought I'd give it a try.

After buying the game, the main thing I'm hearing about it from people is how big it is. Skyrim is a massive world you can walk around in. It is huge that I should easily be able to share my adventures for at least a few months.

I plan on posting about three times before this week ends just to catch up, so keep coming back. I'm as excited as you are.
